Dark and Twisted Cafe (Part 3) @ Evolve Mall, PJ

$

So if you've not read about the second and first part of Dark and Twisted Cafe, here is the link to it Dark and Twisted Cafe Part 2. Anyway, this part 3 will be more focused on their range of tapas which they've just recently launched and added to their existing menu.

These are the 5 types of tapas that I've tried.

Gourmet Sausage Mix - RM7.50

Starting off with a humble selection of sausage mix. It's a combination of chicken and beef, both of which are sauteed lightly to bring out the natural flavour of the sausages. It is then sprinkled lightly with chopped spring onion to give it a little freshness.

Oyster & Button - RM5.50

Next up, oyster and button mushroom sauteed and seasoned to perfection. It's a simple dish but it is well packed with flavour. This dish is a definite much have for any mushroom lovers!

Meatball Quartet - RM11.50

For something that is a leaning towards the tangier and richer side, why not try out their meatball quartet served with a rich and addictive tomato sauce? The meatball is tender and soft while the edge is a little crusty. That also adds on flavour to the dish and gives it some depth that we all can enjoy. Served with a side of butter sourdough medallions for you to scoop the remaining sauce with.

Creamy Mash Potatoes - RM5.50

Feeling a little hungry and have that sudden desire to have some potatoes? Well, Dark and Twisted's version of the mashed potatoes is incredibly simple. A good chunk of butter and hand-squashed potatoes, allowing it to have some lumps for texture without being overly pasty. In short, it's a pretty good serving of mash.

Cassava Fries - RM5.50

Similar to how most sweet potato fries are, but with cassava instead. For those that do not know, Cassava is similar to tapioca as tapioca is extra from the roots of it. Anyway, the fries are submerged in water first, allowing them to spread. The spreading allows the cassava to be a lot lighter when it's fried, as well as giving it that crispiness that we desire. Finally, it is finished with a sprinkle of salt and chopping spring onions. Lovely!

Gambas Al Ajillo (Garlic Prawns) - RM13.60

If you're looking for flavour, then this dish is definitely worth trying. The prawns are cooked nicely where they aren't too soggy, and they retained most of their bouciness. The olive oil dip is infused with garlic and chilli flakes that gives it that added layer of flavour and spice. Of course, the prawns themselves are spiced but as a whole, it worked really well. Oh yes, butter sourdough medallions on the side too!

Chicken Skewers with Salad - RM5.50 per skew

Last but not least, some skewers (or western satay if you like). These little sticks of joy comes with pineapple, chicken, onions, and bell peppers, all grilled to tender and juicy perfection. Of course, they're also marinated to give it that extra oomph!

Now what better way to wash it all down if it isn't with a cup of ice latte? Dark and Twisted also offers a wide range of coffee that anyone can enjoy. No single origins or anything fancy like that, just good ol' pure coffee with a skilled barista.

All and all, Dark and Twisted Cafe has more to offer than you think. From the founding idea of all the dishes to the results of execution, most of their dishes are absolutely delicious. Of course, there some hit and misses here and there but generally, everything was great. Service was also friendly and food comes at a reasonable timeframe.

There's also beer so yeah, you can pretty much sit down and have a bottle here while chilling with your friends or phone.

Korea Day 5 Itinerary (Lotte World, Seoul) - Travel Blog

$

0

It truly has been quite a long time since I've last updated about my Korea trip as I was quite busy. Anyway, I'm back now again and here is Day 5 of my 2016 Korea escape, where I spend the whole day in Lotte World!

To get to Lotte World, all you need to do is find your way to Jamsil Station (green line). For me it was quite simple as my departing station has multiple lines, which gives me access to the direct line to Jamsil. From there, it's pretty much a 3-5 minutes walk to the underground entrance of Lotte World.

At the counter of Lotte World's indoor theme park. Gotta pay my shit before going in. The general admission ticket will cost about KRW31,000 but with your passport, you're entitled to a special discount, which makes it KRW24,000 (RM80 +/-). So do remember to bring your passport!

After that, we proceeded to Underwear, a land of hopes and dreams.

Apparently, this is the world's largest indoor theme park. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but it is massive from what I can see. It sort of have that Disneyland vibe (thought I've never been there before, this somehow feels like it). They have their own special characters and the theme indoors is pretty nice.

Most of the indoor rides here are for kids, probably around the age of 5-16? Not that sure but they certainly weren't very exciting. It's fun to look at, but definitely not thrilling.

Lockers, just incase anyone needs them. But don't bother as most of the rides allow you to bring your bag with.

This is us queuing for the pirate ship.

Once we're done with the indoor theme park, we went out. Thank God. Finally, something a lot more fun and exciting as I can hear random strangers shouting from one end to another.

Chinese eyes just because.

This was our first ride, and is probably among the most fun ones. You can latched onto a shuttle where they only lock onto your legs while your body is free, prepped and launched. The speed is phenomenal and the turnings to make your legs sore. But overall, it was awesome!

Oh, this has a minimum wait of 45 minutes.

Next up, Gyro Swing! You pretty much sit in a circle and get toss around like a pendulum swing. I don't remember it being a 360 turn, but where you sit, it will be spinning as well. This was awesomely fun on the first few seconds, but will get a bit tiresome nearing the end. The best part is when the swing is at the peak, which gives you a nice overview of the Lotte World from a different angle.

This particular ride also requires a minimum of 30 minutes wait.

Hot dogs for lunch. Not exactly what I'd expect but yeah...

Bumper cars! Because what's not to love about banging someone or a bunch of people? The wait for this is horrendous and the place itself is quite tight. Each round is roughly 3 minutes but the waiting period is close to an hour! Still fun though. I wished the track was a little bigger.

That's the Lotte Tower right next to the castle.

Trains.

I do not know what this is called, but it's like spinning disc on a curve plate. Not to most exciting but certainly fun. Waited no more than 30 minutes for this, which is great cause this can be considered as the fastest one. Oh yes, you can also bring your bags up and have them placed between your thighs.

Last but not least, the Comet Express! This was the epic finale. Though I can't seem to take photos on the inside, the queue here will bring you down underground. I can't really explain much on it, but you'll be seated on a line of chairs where they turn 360. It will then be shot at high speed, going through dark tunnels while your chair rotates, giving you the view of the galaxy. Similar to how a comet goes through space. Very interesting concept and a great way to end Lotte World.

This was definitely an hour wait.

All and all, I've only gone through 6 rides, 5 of which are shown here. The other one is similar to our Genting Selero Shot but in reversed. You'll pretty much be brought up till the peak, set for a moment and dropped instantly. The feeling was fairly intense but the view of absolutely beautiful. I got to see the vast area of Lotte World and it's surrounding cherry blossoms!

Exiting Lotte World.

Going through the park, taking a breezily walk while staring at people who takes selfie from a weird angle.

After which I've stopped by Lotte Mart and behold, a haven for salad lovers! Look at all that greens! Shit if that was in Malaysia and it didn't cost me two kidneys and my heart, I would totally buy them everyday.

Look at all these meat! Look at the marbilization!

At the end of the day, we went back to Konkuk University Station and had BBQ buffet.

It was the cheapest one around, priced at KRW11,000 (RM35 +/0) per person excluding soju. That is incredibly affordable as their variants of meat and vegetables were pretty good. So far, no complains there.

Our last walk after dinner, because those fats need to go somewhere else. Hence we took a stroll around the area and went back about an hour later.

Kuroba Cafe - A AJapanese and Western Fusion (Revisit) @ Setia Alam

$

If you're in Setia Alam and you're unsure of what to have for lunch or dinner, then head on over to Kuroba Cafe as they offer a wide range of homey Japanese fusion dishes. Everything here is as fresh and healthy as it gets as they use premium and quality produce. The cafe is also incredibly spacious that comfort  is definitely not an issue.

Apart from all that, this is what Kuroba Cafe had come out with for their new menu.

Sake Chicken - RM12.90

At first sight, it may seem a little boring and bland but wait till you actually get a taste of it. The chicken is steamed in a wrap for hours, allowing it to absorb those quality sake flavours into the meat. The use of Shimeji mushrooms, leek and ginger is absolutely fantastic.

The flavours are well developed and they worked with one another, creating a harmonious taste profile that even kids might enjoy!

Overall, this dish is not only tasty, it's incredibly affordable as well. The only downside is, only 20 servings will be given a day - 10 in the morning and 10 in the evening. It is currently the one and only type of sake chicken in Klang Valley, so be quick!

Curry Meatballs - RM17.90

Getting bored of the standard katsu curry chicken but still insists on the taste of Japanese curry? Well, why not go for Kuroba Cafe's variant of the classi curry rice? It comes with a generous amount handmade pork balls, deep fried to crusty perfection and served alongside a good load of delicious curry. The curry is also made with their own recipe instead of packet powder or anything of that sort.

Rice is fluffy, light and generous - what's not to love? Overall, lovely flavour, hearty feeling.

Salmon Onigiri - RM13.90

Not feeling extremely hungry but just looking for something healthy and light to bite on? Well, Kuroba Cafe's salmon onigiri is definitely one worth trying out. Generous amount of salmon flakes and dried salmon are incorporated to the onigiri, along with fluffy rice and seaweed, making it fairly healthy but most importantly, delicious. It has decent amount of flavour and the salad on the side with homemade roasted sesame sauce is nice.

Pork Croquette

Though the look of simplicity, these little cutlets of croquette is actually pretty good. Inside, you'll find a fair bit of pork chunks, potatoes and onions, making up the entire croquette. The crust is crispy and addictive while internally, it's incredibly soft and moist.

Raindrop Cake - RM6.90

Last but not least, the current trending dessert - Raindrop Cake. I know there are quite a number of raindrop cakes available out there, but Kuroba Cafe's variant flares well above the rest. The raindrop cake itself is bouncy, translucent and incredibly addictive. It is paired with Japanese roasted soy flour and a good dose of brown sugar syrup. Combining them all together gives that really nice texture and flavour that I simply enjoy.

All and all, Kuroba Cafe has definitely more to offer than they did before. With their latest Sake Chicken and raindrop cake, these two are solid reasons to visit. So if you're in the mood for some homey Japanese food, why not hop over to Kuroba Cafe today?

Huckleberry Food and Fare @ Bukit Damansara

The new and revamped Huckleberry has been around for almost a year now, and I've only recently got to try it out. It is located in Bukit Damansara, where all the fancy bungalows are helmed. As far as I'm aware, Huckleberry feels a lot like a bakery than a restaurant to me. Having said that, the review this time would be regarding its main courses. So without further ado, let us ssee what they have to offer.

The ever so dark interior - especially at night.

The Bird Waffle - RM24.90

Starting off with The Bird Waffle. I can see why it's call that way, but still find it rather odd for a name of a dish. In any case, crispy buttermilk fried chicken thighs are sandwiched between two fluffy waffles and served with honey on the side. This dish may seem odd, but the flavours do work pretty well. It might get some getting used to at first though.

Chilli Con Kanye - RM26.90

At this point of time I kinda doubt the naming team behind Huckleberry. Anyway, this version of the chilli con carne certainly was quite savoury. The minced beef was nicely seasoned and the additional toppings did gave it an added depth. The buns were soft and nicely buttered while the chips were crisp and fluffy.

Chuck Norris & Drop The Bass Tacos - RM21.90 & RM19.90

Two very delicious tacos with very puny names. Huckleberry's version of these tacos aren't exactly Mexican, but they do taste quite nice. Personally, I favor the Chuck Norris more as it was more flavourful, but the Drop The Bass wasn't that bad either. It was just a little too light for me.

K-pop Frenzy - RM19.90 (6) /RM39.90 (12)

The reason why it's called K-pop Frenzy is quite simple - the sauce. It's a spicy gochujang sauce that is common found in many of the Korean dishes. This on the other hand, was a lot spicer than that as I believe they've added few other ingredients. The chicken was nicely fried as the flesh was still tender while the skin was incredibly sticky. Pretty good, but torturous the next day.

Another One Bites the Crust - RM32.90

This time, I truly have no idea why is it called that way. However, this pizza is a great interpretation of a breakfast pizza, where you'll find all the nutrition you need for breakfast in one single serving. From baked beans to bacon, mushroom to sausages and of course, eggs as well, they're all found here. Nicely seasoned and baked perfectly.

What The Cluk - RM20.90

This is another dish that uses Huckleberry's signature buttermilk fried chicken. Instead, it's done in a burger and it's topped with mayo-sriracha sauce, house-slaw and lettuce. The dish is a little too heavy for my liking, but might just hit on the right spot for those who love chicken burgers.

Salted Caramel Milkshake & Canna Butter Kisses - RM15.90 & RM23.90

Apart from the fattening array of food, they also have some drinks to compliment. These are some of their signature milkshakes. It's sweet, it's addictive and ultimately sinful.

Craft Beers

These are more towards what I enjoy - craft beers. They offer a variety of famous craft beers along with some onion rings on some of them. The guilty pleasure here is indeed high.

Handcrafted Cocktails

I'm not so much of a cocktail person myself, but I do enjoy the one in the middle. I can't remember what it's called but it certainly was refreshing!

All and all, this review has certainly changed my perception of Huckleberry. What I initially thought was a simple bakery and pastry cafe has now turned into this beast that serves pretty much everything. Most of what I had were pretty rich in flavour, but if you're on a cheat day, that shouldn't be an issue!

Ishin Japanese Dining @ OUG

$

Japanese dining has been part of the Malaysian culture for a pretty long time. Over the years, multiple Japanese restaurants have been spawning around town, regardless of how populated they are. Today, there's at least one in every neighborhood. Similarly, Ishin Japanese Dining is your desired neighborhood restaurant and here are the reasons why.

Parking may be an issue but no worries, there is a free valet right at the front.

Sawa Kani (Seasonal)

Kicking things off with a serving of imported Sawa Kani, a mini Japanese freshwater crab that is fried and salted, resulting in a crispy and addictive appetizer. Though a word of warning, chewing it the wrong way may get you a cut or two in your mouth.

Sashimi Moriawase

This, was my night's favourite dish. In fact, it probably is one of the best sashimi that I've had in a long time. Everything here was done so well; presentation was spot on, a wide selection and ultimately, everything was incredibly fresh. I could taste the natural sweetness of each dish, and they all worked really well with a bit of freshly grated wasabi.

This platter of sashimi is a definite must-order in Ishin Japanese Dining. It's well worth the price and you'll definitely not regret it.

I can't remember what exactly was this called, but it was quite similar to sukiyaki. It had plenty of vegetables inside, as well as clams. The soup itself was immense as the flavours were impactful. Not only was it rich, it was smooth and easy on the throat too. The various types of ingredients found within also gave it a rather pleasant bite.

Salted Clams

As simple as it may look, these little tidbits do pack in a whole lot of flavour. Each piece is nicely bbq-ed on the shell, followed by a sprinkle of salt. It's a fun treat to have on the side, and it goes really well with some premium sake, which is available at Ishin Japanese Dining as well.

Kagoshima Beef Grade A4

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting the star of the day, Kagoshima Beef or in layman terms - Wagyu. A total of 250grams of perfectly sliced beef was served alongside a hot stove. There are two options to this dish, either with a marinate or simply salt and pepper. I went for mere salt and pepper because I enjoy the natural taste of the beef itself.

Let the stove heat up, once it's ready, simply pop in a slice and let it cook for about 20-30 seconds on each side for medium rare. Go another further than that and you might end up overcooking it. I loved my bloody so yes, the picture above shows the perfect doneness for me. Loved every single bit of it, didn't want to share but I had to, oh wells.

I always tend to forget these soupy dishes name. Having said that, you can be assured that this one here is a lot more flavourful than the previous. It's a lot more saltier and the ingredients inside really makes it enjoyable. If you have a heavy palette, this dish is an absolute must.

Blue-Fin Maguro with Sea Urchin and Rice

The name is just something I came up with, it's not the actual name in Japanese but it is what its stated. Anyway, this dish was also another one of my favourite besides the wagyu and sashimi. The reason being? Simple, it may look plain and down to earth, but inside, it's rich and flavourful. The blue-fin tuna slices were absolutely delightful as they literally melts in your mouth. It's also a little bit fatty, which gives it that really nice umami taste.

Furthermore, the sea-urchin gave a pretty nice edge, while the fluffy short-grained rice wrapped everything together. Absolutely delight, highly recommended!

Japanese Melon

Last but not least, dessert. I was fortunate enough to try out the Japanese melon, which is one of the most expensive and more luxurious melon in the world. It's grown in Japan and is incredibly scarce. Prices soars up to 100,000 Yen, which is about 600 pounds or roughly RM3.5k per piece. That is also depending on the grade and type but as a whole, they're incredibly rare.

This slice was one of the best fruits that I've had. Nothing came close to the natural sweetness and amount of water squirted when chewed upon, not even a watermelon. In short, if you're not a fan of ice cream (which is odd), and you love fruits, then this Japanese Melon is definitely worth going for.

All and all, Ishin Japanese Dining has surpassed my expectation. It's meticulous attention to detail to the composition of the dish, flavour and pretty much everything, was done to absolute perfection. Prices may not be the most friendly but it's definitely well worth it. So if you're in the mood for some fine Japanese dining, do give Ishin Japanese Dining a go.

Express #ThatWeekendFeeling with Somersby Cider!

I've always been a fan of Somersby's apple cider, as well as their recent launch of pear cider. Today, they've just relaunched the blackberry variant due to popular demand, which is equally light and refreshing. So share the joy and join Somersby's #ThatWeekendFeeling campaign by having a bottle of Somersby anytime and anyday. Screw that Monday Blues, grab a bottle and drink up!

Because why not right?

The idea behind Somersby's #ThatWeekendFeeling campaign is fairly simple, to encourage people to relax and take their time, while consuming on the best and fastest growing cider in Malaysia.

You can enjoy your bottle of Somersby with an array of fresh cut fruits as well. Like this gentlemen over here, placing some strawberries and grapes into what is already refreshing enough, to make the experience a whole lot better!

Or perhaps enjoy this monstrous creation of "Somerita", a drink that literally turns a Somersby bottle upside down and served alongside fresh fruits. It is indeed quite amazing as the drink will not overspill, and will only stay at a certain point in the cup.

Crushed ice are used instead of larger cubes to ensure that each sip is as cold as it gets. Lovely!

The point in time where everyone tried to win a home theater.

Not only that, fans of Somersby can visit www.somersby.com.my/thatweekendfeeling, an interactive tool that allows fans to take fun photos, edit with fun filters and receive a GIF featuring their photos to share and spread #ThatWeekendFeeling to family and friends of social media.

The top three posts with the highest likes will win a party worth RM1500 each in the month of August. The fun does not stop there! For top 30 posts with the highest likes, Somersby will also be extending an exclusive invitation to them and four of their buddies to attend a one-of-a-kind fun-filled barbeque and food truck get-together session in the month of September.

To sum things up, both the blackberry and apple flavoured cider are definitely my favourite. Not only are they refreshing, they go really well with a number of mains and snacks too. The innovative way of enjoying a drink upside down truly was one of a kind, and one definitely worth going for.

All Somersby ciders are to be made permanent in all major supermarket chains, and also, Somersby Apple Cider are available in 320ml can at 4.5% ABV.

Sanoook Thai & Japanese Fusion @ Sunway Pyramid Hotel West, PJ

Thai and Japanese cuisine has been around Malaysia for as long as anyone could remember. They're both individually unique, with its own unique sets of flavour, presentation and of course, culture. However, what if I were to tell you that someone has actually manage to merge them 2 together? And something that is delicious, unique and one of a kind? Well, that's Sanoook!

The name may sound a little odd but do bare with me as what you're about to find out is pure awesomeness.

Sanoook is a combination of Thai & Japanese, and it recently opened its doors around early August in Sunway Pyramid Hotel West. The new block linked right next to Sunway Pyramid 2.

Sanoook Salad - RM29.90

This may look fairly weird, but its a great combination between Japanese cucumber wrapped with torched salmon, avocado, baked apples, onions, cherry tomatoes, greens, baked apple and a light dressing. I can't exactly remember what are those crispy things on top, but it does give it a more vibrant and crunchy texture.

Salmon Belly Skewer with Lime Chili Sauce - RM77.90
Chicken Skewer with Massaman Sauce - RM32.90

Though I may not agree with the price, these skewers were absolutely delicious. The salmon belly was not only grilled to perfection, but had a nice char on the edge as well as a good pinch of seasoning. The lime chilli sauce too works great in cutting through all that richness from the fat, and just lifts everything up.

The chicken skewer on the other hand is a little bit more normal, but the sauce itself is great. A good depth of flavour as well as perfectly cooked chicken thighs - lovely!

Tuna with Tomyam Sauce Sushi Roll - RM27.90

Everything on this plate was done right - but nothing out of the ordinary. What made this dish unique however, was the awesome homemade tomyam sauce. It has a nice kick as well as richness and added flavour that just helps the sushi to its fullest potential. To top things off, the ebiko on top gave it that added crunch as well. Definitely one of my favourites.

Tom Yam Soup with River Prawn - RM23.90

Thai food wouldn't be complete without a serving of tom yam. What Sanoook has done was absolutely delightful as the tom yam broth was not only rich, but it had a great depth of flavour. It is also spicier than most, alongside fresh river prawns and mushrooms, the entire dish was undeniably delicious. This goes great with rice or simply on its own. Highly recommended!

Pan Fried Tuna Steak with Spinach & Mixed Mushrooms - RM28.90

Personally, I'm not too much a fan of these types of dishes as I felt that it has lost its identity. Having said that, Sanoook's version was acceptable. Not because the tuna was cooked beautifully, but rather how the flavours mixed pretty well with one another. The teriyaki sauce that comes with it is light yet flavourful enough to wrap things up. The difference in texture between the tuna, spinach, mushroom and crunchy bits on top was enjoyable. All and all, it may not have been my favourite dish but I can see why it's good.

Chicken Burger with Teriyaki Sauce - RM17.90

Let us not forget about this! Rice burger with a slab of deliciously tender, chicken thighs, teriyaki sauce, pineapple and vegetables. The burger itself was fairly unique, though it has been done before. Fortunately, everything was cooked nicely and the burger doesn't break as easily as some others out there. Good flavour, fun to eat and definitely filling.

Sashimi

For some reason we had this after all of that, which wasn't exactly a bad thing as the slices of salmon were incredibly thick and juicy. Spread a little wasabi and dip it in soy sauce! Lovely!

Fresh Durian Ice Cream with Coconut Milk - RM21.90

If you think that durian can't get any richer, well, you're quite wrong. This dessert certainly has elevated the meaning of durian by having it submerged in coconut milk. The result is a smooth, creamy and amazingly delicious bowl of durian ice cream. Made with real durian, you could smell this dish even when it's on its way.

Thai Volcano - RM18.90

Last but not least, some sort of bingsu/ice kacang. Not that it's a bad thing as this was my favourite ending dessert between the two. The durian simply was too rich for that particular meal of mine hence I preferred this ice kacang instead. The lovely taste of Thai milk tea together with finely shaved ice, chewy balls and bread certainly went well together. In any case, I preferred mine to be icy instead of watery, so feel free to request so if you have any preference.

All and all, Sanoook certainly has something fresh and new. Thankfully, not everything on the menu is out of the blue as there were some that were classics you can find elsewhere. The most important part is that most of what I had were cooked and seasoned beautifully, and I can definitely see myself coming back for more.

Wing's Music Cafe @ SS2, PJ

This goes out to all the artists and music enthusiasts out there in Malaysia, Wings Cafe is certainly more than just a place of dining. If you're interested in singing, performing or even start your produce your own album, Wings Cafe will be more than willing to assists you.

Situated in one of the busiest and most populated place in PJ, Wings Cafe offers simple comfort food that is fit for anyone and of all ages. On top of that, the constant live band as well as performances will definitely keep you entertained. The only problem I had was the parking, but apart from that, all was good.

Unlike many of the cafes out there, Wing's Music Cafe actually focuses more on to the performing part. Hence, you'll find many young and upcoming singers to be performing there.

Moving on to the food, here's a simple serving of salad with beef bacon, full boiled eggs and their own special dressing. Everything that is found here is fairly common, but the sauce is what made it nice. Sweet, tangy and a great way to bring everything together, this simple plate of salad was a nice start.

Next up, mushroom and chicken risotto. Made really creamy and seasoned quite nicely, Wing's Music Cafe's risotto is pretty good. There's decent amount of flavour and the portion is fairly generous. Though I wish the rice to be cooked less, it still is a pretty good.

For those that enjoy the Malaysianised version of western cuisine, Wing's Music Cafe's platter of meat is delightful. It comes with a serving of chicken chop, pork chop, fried egg, sausage wrapped in ham, french fries and a side of salad, topped with brown sauce. It's also served sizzling so do be careful.

French fries, I mean, who doesn't love them? Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, Wing's Music Cafe's fries comes in 4 different ways. Plain, Seasoned with Curry Powder, Homemade Tany Sauce and Cheese. Great for sharing!

Last but not least, a simple creme brulee to finish. It was a little too sweet for my liking though.

So there you have it, if you're aspiring to be a singer, do pay them a visit and see how can they assist you.

Vitamin Sea @ Seri Kembangan

I personally love seafood. Just about any sort of fish, clams or shellfish, I enjoy it very much. I also tend to seek for the freshest selection of seafood available in restaurants, but most of the time, it's either frozen or stale. I mean, there are some great ones out there, but they are incredibly rare. So much so as even Vitamin Sea is located quite a distance from where I stay.

Vitamin Sea is another seafood restaurant that capitalizes on your hands to eat. Simply pop on a plastic glove (or not) and enjoy the spread of delicious seafood that will be laid out on a long table.

Crabs, prawns, mussels, crayfish are just some of what I had the other day, with more in the ala-carte menu. You'll also get to choose from 3 different flavours; spicy, creamy and their latest premium soy. I went for the spicy cause I personally like it the most, and I've yet to try the other 2.

Lovely prawns.

Look at that crab.

Mini octopus - my personal favourite.

Personally, the spicy sauce was an absolute delight. It had a good depth of flavour with just enough heat, as well as aroma from the 18 different blend of spices. The choices of seafood were great, but most of them were slightly overpowered by the gravy. I could still taste the natural sweetness of the seafood and vegetables, but I believe I could've tasted it more in the other 2 sauces.

Regardless, I still enjoyed the sauce really much. Each set also comes with a choice of either white bread or rice. I went for rice cause I was really hungry that day, and having it with these amazing seafood items was fantastic.

Baked Potatoes

Sloppy Fries

Adding on to my carbs, I went for 2 different types of potatoes - Baked and Sloppy Fries. The baked potatoes were pleasant and light, but flavourful enough. The Sloppy Fries on the other hand, was a little cold when I actually took a bite. Personally, I think this is best ordered when you're almost done with your meal. The flavours are there, but the fries was a little cold for me.

Last but not least, I washed it down with a refreshing cup of Blue Lemonade. It's zesty, sparkly and a great compliment to the flavourful seafood items.

All and all, I think Vitamin Sea can be the next upcoming seafood place. Their seafood are incredibly fresh and the sauce I had was great. Not sure about the other 2 but so far so good. Service was great and the ambiance was calm and relaxing. It certainly is a great place to be while feasting on crabs and prawns.

myBurgerlab's New Menu 2016! @ Seapark, SS21

myBurgerlab has always been the comfort zone of burgers, where occasionally I will drop by just to satisfy my beefy craving. Though recently I've been going back a little too much, but hey, it's not a bad thing right? Anyway, they've recently (3 weeks ago, I think), launched something new! Here it is....

Nachos!

Yes, the almighty and glorious nachos, topped with homemade salsa, minced meat, Siracha, homemade cheese sauce and finished with chopped jalepenos. It's both crispy, chewy and flavoursome. Though I'd prefer mine a little more spicy - perhaps a touch more Siracha and jalepenos.

I can't recall what this is, but I do know one thing for sure is that this dish works great if I'm drunk. The sheer richness of the meatballs, along with all that gravy, cheese, homemade jam and fries makes it really filling yet addictive. Inspired from Ikea meatballs, this dish comes highly recommended from me, even if you're not drunk.

Lemonade.

Something aside from soft drinks to quench your thirst. A refreshing blend of 7 up, lime and fresh bay leaf makes this drink differ slightly from the regular lemonade.

Of course, the meal wouldn't be complete without some amazing burgers now wouldn't it? I went for an order of Say Cheese ^2 - where they doubled everything from the cheese to the patty, making it a really huge burger that I struggled to finish. The other 2 orders were the Ultraman 3.0 and a Kick in the Face. Lovely - as usual!

So there you have it! myBurgerlab's latest creation - definitely worth trying out!

Pablo Japanese Cheese Tart @ 1 Utama, PJ

Fans of Japanese cheese tart rejoice! One of Japan's most popular cheese tart is finally making its mark here at 1 Utama, Malaysia! It's their first ever outlet, so let us all give them a warm welcome.

There has been a craze for these amazing cheese tarts recently and they can pretty much be found anywhere. From high end pastry shops to even night markets, it's pretty much available nationwide.

However, it's nice that Pablo has entered the market to provide something a little different from what we are used to. For one, their customer service is fantastic. Friendly staffs greeting by the counter, and as expected from a Japanese company, they are always smiling.

Their version of the mini cheese tart is a lot more jelly-like in comparison to some that is available on the market. What we, or personally me, had experienced is that the cheese tend to flow a lot more. However, Pablo's version is like biting through soft tofu which just the right amount of creaminess and acidity within. The crust is also a lot thicker, which holds the tart a whole lot better.

The giant cheese tart on the other hand, has the 'flow-ier' texture, but still retains it shape in a fairly unique way. It's crusty on the outside and not as rich and creamy as compared to the mini version. It is then glazed with apricot jam on top to give it that nice acidity to cut through all that richness.

What's truly interesting about this Signature 6' Cheese Tart is the fact that you can order it according to how well you'd like the doneness to be. Either in molten form, or perhaps a more bouncy 'tau fu fa' texture, it is all possible.

Aside from cheese tarts, we also had the chance to try out their signature drink. Which is rather odd as it's a cheese tart drink. Don't ask how they did it, just know that every element in this drink is identical to the Signature 6" Cheese Tart. Though quite surprisingly, the drink isn't as thick as or overpowering as I'd imagined. In fact, the apricot and the milkiness of it works really well.

Last but not least, imported snacks from Japan. Pablo's range of biscuits and cookies! This is the perfect gift for Christmas for anyone that enjoys milk, cream or cheese!

Where would you be if you had a craving for Taiwanese cuisine? No idea? Well, then you have got to give Taiwan Recipe a try! It's located in Pearl Shopping Centre, though they have another outlet in Midvalley Megamall, Taiwan Recipe is a warm and cozy restaurant that offers an extensive array of well-cooked Taiwanese cuisine.

Sliced Pork Meat with Salted Vegetable Soup - RM26.90/RM22.90 (Set/Ala carte)

We started off with an appetizing bowl of sliced pork meat with salted vegetable soup. Each piece of pork was thinly sliced and cooked to tender perfection. There was a nice balance of fat to lean meat which I really like.

The used of salted vegetables also helped cut through that richness from the pork, and gives it a nice acidity as well as a lift of flavour. The soup is tangy and savoury, which works great when poured over rice. Overall, loved it!

3 Cups Chicken - RM23.90/RM19.90 (Set/Ala carte)

Next up, we had something a little more savoury called the 3 cups chicken. Now I don't know why it's called that way, but the obvious use of dark soy sauce is evident. It's also rather sweet and the chicken was cooked to tender perfection. It's a rich dish that really needs a bowl of rice to compliment. Not my favourite but certainly did enjoyed it.

Minced Pork Stew Rice - RM14.90/RM10.90 (Set/Ala carte)

Now this is what I enjoyed most (apart from the pork sliced and salted vegetables). Each bowl comes with a generous amount of perfectly cooked and seasoned minced pork topped on rice and served with a full boiled eggs, salted vegetables and cucumber. The dish is incredibly simple but well packed with flavour. Dive into this and savour the richness and saltiness from the pork and sauce! Highly recommended.

Claypot Lou Shi Fun - RM15.90

We also had a humble serving of Claypot Lou Shi Fun, which is cooked quite nicely where the noodles are still bouncy and firm, yet soft enough to just swallow whole. It's comforting and quite delicious indeed.

Moonlight Prawn Cake - RM15.90/RM25.90 (4 pcs/8 pcs)

Believe it or not, this set of 'pancakes' was actually really good. I was certainly impressed by crispiness on the skin and firmness in the center. The texture was just right, where the balance was not only inviting, but addictive as well. Flavours were great and the added chilli gave it a slight kick. Absolute delicious and highly recommended!

Mango Snowy Ice - RM13.90

Those who enjoy shaved iced will loved this! It's smooth, it's fluffy and it's really light. It also literally melts in your mouth without the need to chew on ice. Flavours were great and mangoes were fresh - lovely! There are also different fruits and flavours available.

Bonsai Ice Cream - RM5.90

Last but not least, we also had a pretty cute serving of Bonsai-looking ice cream. It comes in either chocolate or vanilla, topped with crushed oreos.

All and all, Taiwan Recipe certainly had more to offer than I'd imagine. There were also several glasses of drinks which I wasn't able to retrieve from my SD card but I can assure you, they are quite addictive. I personally would recommend the Sour Plum Ice Blended for those who enjoy sour stuff and the Eight Treasure Tea for a more relaxing encounter. In short, it is indeed a warm place with an array of well-cooked dishes.

Ishin Japanese Dining Christmas & New Year Menu @ OUG, Old Klang Road, KL

$

After a few dreadful months, I am back again at Ishin Japanese Dining and this time, to try out their Christmas and New Year menu. Ishin has been, and perhaps will be one of the best Japanese restaurants in OUG, if not KL. As such, I do have a certain expectation of what they should be delivering this time round. As to whether or not they have disappointed in any way, read on.

Do note that this is a combination of two different menu and prices as well as the choices will differ.

Pan Fried Hokkaido Scallop with Avocado and Caviar - Christmas Course #1

I began with a serving of scallops pan fried to tender perfection, wrapped in sliced avocado and topped with caviar, saffron strips, butterfly-pea flower and finished with a Yuzu champagne sauce. The dish was really light but it still packs in a ton of flavours as well as texture.

The scallops were naturally sweet, firm and bouncy while the avocado gave it a really creamy finish. Caviar and saffron added a tad bit of savoury notes to the dish and the flower is simply pretty. A stunning appetizer to say the least.

Live Baby Lobster & Kinmedai Sashimi - Christmas Course #2

Next up, I had a gorgeous serving of live baby lobster (air-flown from Japan) and Kinmedai sashimi. It certainly is quite rare to find a restaurant that serves live baby lobster as most of them are frozen. Hence, the flesh is firmer yet soft, tender and sweet. A touch of wasabi and a light dip in soy sauce is all you will need to enjoy this dish.

The Kinmedai sashimi, which is known as the Golden Eye Snapper, had a really nice shine. It is also really tender and the taste isn't as fishy as I'd imagine. Overall, a lovely dish indeed.

Creamy Potato & Green Bean Soup - New Year Course #3

Though it may look quite simple, the soup was actually quite flavourful. Do not be fooled as the soup was quite lumpy, which gave it a pretty unique texture. It was nicely seasoned and the grilled Kinmedai fish head was firm and flaky.

New Style Snow Crab Leg Tempura - Christmas Course #4

To be quite honest, this was something new to me. I've yet to see black tempura and the use of squid ink to achieve it was ingenious. However, I personally do not fancy tempura as much and the quantity wasn't as generous. The snow crab was firm and sweet, but two strips were barely enough. However, I did enjoy the crispiness and lightness of the tempura.

Wagyu Beef Steak with Sesame Sauce - Christmas Course #4

Now this is what I really like. Wagyu grilled perfectly pink and seasoned with salt, pepper and in this case, sesame sauce. It is slightly leaner than what I'd expect, but it was still incredibly tender and juicy. It has a nice sear on the crust while internally, it was really moist. Though I would prefer my beef to be seasoned with only salt and pepper, the homemade sesame sauce gets an exception this time due to the theme of the restaurant.

Lobster Steak with Sweet Sauce - New Year Course #4

As for the New Year course, you will be getting a perfectly grilled lobster with sweet sauce. Do not worry, the sauce did not overpower the lobster but instead, worked in harmony alongside its tender flesh. As you can see, the lobster is firm, bouncy and well packed with flavour. Served with a side of potato salad.

4 Season Sushi - New Year Course #5

Finally, a tad bit of carbs! Here we have a stunning looking 4 season sushi, in which from the left we have chopped toro with fried China leek infused rice, duck liver with Sisho leaf infused rice, caviar with gold leaf and Japanese Chrysanthemum infused rice and finally, Uni (sea urchin) with butterfly-pea infused rice.

All of them are bite size, which allows you to put them whole to savour both the flavour and texture. My favourite was certainly the chopped toro as it was my favourite. The duck liver was really buttery but the taste might need some getting used to. The caviar was really good as well while the sea-urchin personally, wasn't what I would enjoy. But as a whole, they were fantastic.

Dessert - New Year and Christmas Course #6

As for dessert, I had a serving of sponge cake filled with cream and coated with chocolate, topped with edible honeycomb and a side of strawberry. After all that amazing dish, the dessert certainly did seem a little underwhelming. I'd prefer something cold and refreshing like ice cream or fruits, but then again that's personal. However, the chef did mention that the dessert will change in time to come. After all, it is a mystery dessert!

Overall, my experience this time around at Ishin Japanese Dining was great. It still maintain the standards of what I had before where everything was executed to perfection and the ingredients were fresh. I believe that for this Christmas, it's time to try something new instead of the conventional turkey dinner. Go for Japanese, a fine one at that and give Ishin a go, you will not regret it!

Mezze Bar & Bistro's Christmas Menu 2016 @ Medan Damansara, KL

Christmas is a day where anyone can celebrate the the joy of gift-giving, as well as good food and company. We all know there are a variety of restaurants that offer Christmas dinners, some may be expensive while some may be fairly affordable. As for Mezze, they too had introduced 2 special menu for this coming Christmas and New Years.

Christmas Menu: Choice of Starters - Choose 1

Terrine De Foie Gras Served with Mango Chutney & Fig Bread

A simple yet incredibly flavourful and rich starter. The foie gras had a nice and smooth consistency that easily spreadable on the crusty fig bread, topped with a tangy mango chutney that just helped cut through all that richness.

Mille Feuille Smoked Salmon with Lemon Mascarpone

A dish for salmon lovers. Slices of raw salmon were filled with a vibrant mascarpone mix. The dish was rich in flavour while being somewhat velvety when it comes to the texture of the salmon and lemon mascarpone. You can also opt to spread them on piece of crusty toast, which I personally found it to be quite nice.

Leek, Roquefort, Escargot Stew in Puff Pastry

This, despite being the most common, was my favourite amongst the 3 choice of starters. The puff pastry was flaky and light, while the stew was well packed with flavour. The combination was perfect and I personally felt that this was more 'Christmas-y'.

Christmas Menu: Choice of Mains - Choose 1

Turkey Roulade with Apple, Cranberry & Pecan Stuffing

Ah, turkey - the epitome of a Christmas dinner. I on the other hand, do not like turkey as much due to its lack of moisture and dry-ness of the meat. Though this dish was cooked quite nicely, where the turkey still had a bit of juice in them, I did not enjoy it as much. The sauces and baby potato on the side are great though.

Lamb Loin crusted with Black Olive

The other main would be a beautifully done, lamb loin crusted with crushed black olives and served on a bed of Couscous, with a side of Christmas chutney rolls and salad. As you can see from the photo above, the lamb is cooked to perfection. Though I desire a tad bit more seasoning, there is not denying that the meat was perfectly tender and juicy. The Couscous acted as a form of carb, which made it a little more heartier.

Pan Fried Sea Bass with Buttered Spinach, Clams & Poached Prawns

Last but not least, my favourite amongst the mains. This portion of perfectly pan fried seabass had a nice crispiness to the skin while maintaining and incredibly moist and succulent flesh. It was also really flaky, which was how I like my fish. The buttered spinach added a little more body to the dish while the clams was a great snack on the side. Flavours and everything else was just right, and I would recommend this to those who fancies fish.

Christmas Menu: Choice of Dessert - Choose 1

Chocolate Christmas Yule Log

A classical dessert made pretty. The center was filled with ice cream, encased in a chocolate mousse followed by another layer of chocolate sauce. It truly was a sweet end to the meal.

Red Fruit Pavlova with Balsamic Vinegar Reduction

Last but not least, a pavlova. Personally, I'm not much of a fan towards pavlova, but this was really pretty and the meringue was done quite nicely. I enjoyed the amount of fruits and berries on top and overall, I'd find it quite pleasant.

All and all, most of what I had on the Christmas menu was fantastic. There were some hit and misses with me due to my preferences but overall, everything was done incredibly well.

This Christmas menu will only be available on the 24th of December 2016 - Christmas Eve. Reservation will be necessary and the price is set at RM160++ per pax. There's also a choice of wine for an additional RM140 for 4 glasses

For those who have missed the Christmas menu, you can read on them here: Mezze 2016 Christmas Menu as this is the New Year's menu that was just introduced recently.

New Year Menu: Choice of Starters - Choose 1

Lobster Salad with Persimmon Fruit

Starting off strong with a perfectly cooked, fresh and plump serving of lobster with a side of leafy greens and persimmon. The dish was both light and flavourful, which makes it a great starter.

Crab Chowder with Sweet Corn Foam

Though it may look rather simple, this dish was actually well packed with flavour. The smooth and rich taste of crab coupled with a vibrantly sweet corn in a velvety chowder certainly does provide that sort of Christmas-feeling. The dish was also nicely seasoned and personally my preferred starter.

Roast Vegetables with Chimichurri Dressing

I personally love vegetables so this was pretty good. I loved how all the vegetables were thinly sliced and wrapped around each other, allowing for a better play of textures and flavours. It is also seasoned to perfection, which was great!

New Year Menu: Choice of Mains - Choose 1

Cod Fish with Macadamia Crunch & Spelt Risotto

A beautifully baked piece of cod fish served on a bed of crushed macadamia nuts and risotto, finished with hazelnut puree and a side of roasted vine tomatoes. A simple dish with an extremely play of texture. The cod fish was fresh, flaky and plump. Cutting through it is like cutting through butter - lovely.

Roast Duck Fillet with Coffee & Peach Coulis

A gorgeous chunk of duck breast pan seared to perfection. A skin so crisp and fat that it will melt in your mouth, whereas the flesh had a nice bite to it. The dish was also seasoned nicely and the flavours were without a doubt, evident.

Tournedo Rossini with Royale Sauce & Foie Gras

Now this my friends, is what life is all about. Look at the perfectly medium steak with a nice sear on the edge. If that wasn't enough, it is topped with a generous portion of foie gras, enriching what is already incredibly flavourful and tender. The chewiness of the steak coupled with the melt-in-your mouth foie gras was absolutely divine. This definitely is a dish worth dying for.

New Year Menu: Choice of Desserts - Choose 1

Profiterole with Vanilla Ice Cream

Cute little niblets with vanilla ice cream in the middle, topped with a hot chocolate sauce and Bailey's custard. It's quite similar to cream puffs, which was great.

Douceur Cafe Caramel

Though I'm not too sure what this is, it was quite enjoyable. 3 different layers of liquid stacked upon one another, creating a plethora of flavours that just somehow worked. It was also cold, so that was nice.

In short, the New Year Menu, like the Christmas Menu, was fantastic. I did enjoy the steak very much, whereas the others were pretty good as well.

This New Year Menu will only be available on the 31st of December 2016 - New Year's Eve. Reservation will be necessary and the price is set at RM185++ per pax. There's also a choice of wine for an additional RM140 for 4 glasses

BGT Lakeview Restaurant - A Restaurant Not Worth Visiting @ Kelana Jaya (Updated Dec 2016)

$

It may seem as if this restaurant offers a stunning space for a romantic dinner. However, I personally advise otherwise. From this photo, which is taken quite nicely by me (I must say - Hohoho), the place is actually fairly decent.

However, some of you might have already read upon the latest update, where many got cheated of their romantic Christmas campaign. One that I believe I should address.

The outdoor seating area of BGT Lakeview.

To be quite honest, the place at night is nice. However, it appears that the owner had taken matters into her own hands and alter what I've captured here, into something a lot worst. Those decorations and CHAIRS, which were one of the few complains, are nowhere to be found except for those by the lake.

A move that I find absolutely retarded. If you can't fit that many, don't do it. Not to mention that they'd promoted with another social media agency, which will no doubt be bad for them.

Signature Wood Fire Oven Durian Pizza - RM35

The durian pizza I had this round was bad. In fact, it was so bad when I pointed out to the owner, she said that she can't control the quality of durians. I then replied saying that she could've increase the amount of durian placed and she said "Are you teaching me how to cook?".

Now wait just a bloody minute. Who the fuck do you think you are? I merely am suggesting a way where you can improve your dish and this is how you reply me? You might as well go fly a cow or something if that is how you plan to run your business.

Not to mention that you are in the service industry - food for that matter.

Tortellini Seafood - RM23

As much as it may look well presented on this photo, I've seen what others had shared and believe me when I tell you that a turd would like a whole lot more appetizing than this. To be fair, when I had it, it was decent. But from what I saw and heard, you are better off with a can of tuna.

Amori di mare - RM20

Not sure about this one but I believe you won't be getting any prawns or mussels. That is again, what I believe and depict through photos from customers.

Grilled Salmon with Rucola - RM46

This honestly was quite good, but again, I'm sure they fucked it up. It's either they shortchanged you on the vegetables or the weight of the salmon has been decreased. If not, perhaps they just fuck the dish as a whole. Might as well right?

Kim Yang Lamb Cutlets - RM55

Now this was certainly my favourite. I loved the taste and bite of this dish. However, one must realised that by now, they've pretty much fucked everything up if it isn't a review done by us or any other media agencies. In short, the customers got fucked.

It's either a decrease in lamb portion, or simply no tomatoes. I don't know, perhaps I'll go Google it out later.

Fish Burger - RM21

Fish burger? Nope. I'm not going into that. Might as well let it continue to swim in the ocean.

Pure gimmick - don't bother. They all taste the same with none of them being any different.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the story if you are wondering.

I know it's our job to take good photos of food but when it comes to something as serious as this, I feel that it's wrong. You can't expect to serve something entirely different from what you've served us. It may not look identical, but it should look somewhat like the photos. Saying that it's pure advertising is just cowturd.

You might as well not visit.

Oh, the Facebook page has been shut down as well.

*Disclaimer.

I've reviewed here twice, with the first time being pretty decent and the second time being rubbish. These are my honest thoughts and I'll be fair, some of what they served, or at least what I had were good. It is the fact that the lady boss is over her head or simply unaware of how to run a business properly that this case happened.

This review was done roughly a year ago in 2015 and now in 2016, I'm updating it again.

I can't be sure if they have closed down after that case, but this review serves as an honest reminder to not visit that place.

I also claim that everything written here is purely my personal preference. You can choose to believe it or otherwise. Once again, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Rama V Relaunches @ Kuala Lumpur City Center, KL

Believe it or not, Rama V has been around for over 2 decades. Now, it makes all the sense in the world to do a little refurbishment, perhaps a change of ambiance as well as offerings. Finally, after 22 years being in the business, they have done a massive revamp.

I have not been to Rama V before this but from what I can tell here is that everything looks absolutely gorgeous. From the plating of the utensils to the interior decor and how clean it is, it felt impressive. The lounge chair used as well as the regular diner's chair were comfortable and I liked the fact that they have a key attention to detail.

The opening launch was a great success, with many well-known people attending as well as a strong vibe of fun and joy.

Tables were full and the crowd were buzzing.

It is without said that food to me is the priority in which fortunately, they did not screw it up. Most of what I had were good while some were merely decent. Overall, a pretty promising menu.

To entertain us through the night, there were performances and Muai Thai? I don't know what that is called but hey, 2 person fighting surely was fun to watch.

Overall, I believe the relaunch of Rama V to be pretty successful and I wish them all the best in the future endeavors.

Now what better way to celebrate the festive occasion of fun and joy if it isn't a buffet filled with delicious food? Of course, there should also be music and performances to take it to the next level.

There were plenty of options to choose from. From roast beef to lamb, chicken, fish, prawns, mussels, there were just so much to choose from. Also, to my surprised, most of what I had that night were done perfectly.

But of course, there were some hit and misses, but that's to be expected out of buffet. After all, you can't please everyone now can you?

Some delights from my plate. I personally enjoyed the salmon, roast beef, mushroom soup, mussels, lasagne and my favourite - stewed vegetables with chunks of crunch broccoli!

For desserts, there's my favourite chocolate fondue and candy cane!

Just choose your favourite marshmallow, or even fruits and soak it with luscious chocolate.

So those with a big appetite, the buffet is priced at RM99++ including 1 red/white wine! It is quite affordable and the food is good - perfect for those looking for a date night or a celebration.
