Dean & Deluca @ Khwaeng Silom, Bangkok

It's been awhile since I last wrote, or even travel for that matter. However, I'm here, back at Bangkok once again for a short trip. Upon arrival and checking in, the first place of visit is Dean & Deluca located at Khwaeng Silom, Bangkok. There are several Dean & Deluca located around Bangkok but to what I know, the one at Sathorn Square is the largest and prettiest one that you should definitely visit.

Upon arrival, you'll find a rather generous porch - and there lies Dean & Deluca. Stepping in to this massive building and you'll be greeted by the waiters, directing you to your seats.

From afar, it has that really nice and fancy European-styled grocer. Everything from snacks, salad, fancy sandwiches, alcohol, cheese and even premium raw ingredients are available. The cafe is massive, with a variety of different seating options.

The menu itself is fairly extensive, though it seem to lean towards a breakfast-brunch sort of thing. Of course, you could go for the lobster, as well as ribs and pork loin, but overall, the vibe makes it a really breakfast-y place.

I've ordered the NY Pastrami Sandwich, which is priced at 395 Baht. It isn't entirely cheap, but for the setup and decor, it's expected. The sandwich came with a nice buttered toast, stuffed with quite a generous amount of pulled beef weighing in at approx 100g. Smeared with English mustard and served with coleslaw and pickled cucumbers on the side.

I've also tried their Almond Croissant, which I find to be okay. Priced rather steeply at 90 Baht, the croissant isn't something that I would recommend as I felt the price to be overvalued.

The tea too is a little pricey - with it being not refillable. For 235 Baht, one could enjoy quite a number of beverages outside and be diagnosed with water poisoning. Anyway, you'll pretty much be paying for the environment more than the tea.

The tea isn't bad, but it isn't all great. Made using leaves from a famous French tea company, the flavours were clean and really smooth. It's aromatic and all, but personally, definitely not something I would go for again.

In short, I've taken this meal as more of a relaxing breakfast after a long week. Nothing was too damn good, but everything felt just right. So, if you want to feel a little fancy here in Bangkok, you could give Dean & Deluca a try.
